The Hawk Chair is a top drive. The motor and backup drives are located at the top of the lift. The 1MVA transformer supply's 600 volt power to the chair lift drive which is DC Motor. The electric drive is backed up by a Diesel Engine which can run and load the lift. The backup to the diesel is a PTO on one of the groomers which can run the lift at 100 ft/min for emergency unloading only.
